Hello friends! All kinds of stuff happening! The November 2011 issue of HOW magazine features an article on Camp Firebelly and includes an image of the Biking Beyond Bigotry poster I worked on this summer in Chicago with Lindsay Kaser and Will Miller. It also shows our cute group shot. That same poster was just given one of HOW’s 2012 poster awards! It will be announced on their site very soon. See an image of the all letterpress poster here in my poster section. I recently changed my grad thesis project to the expansion of Hammer & Fox, currently my Etsy shop, into a full fledged small business and shop. It is in the very early stages, but check the shop soon for new prints, sewn items such as bags and pillow, laser cut wooden cards and jewelry, and other home items and artwork! I’ve also set up a section in the menu that will showcase some of this work more thoroughly as the school year progresses. And don’t forget, in one month is MICA’s annual holiday sale, Art Market! SO MUCH GOOD STUFF to come fill your goodie bags with. Please come support us students! Portions of this sale go to scholarships. I will have many items on sale this year. In other news, a number of my classmates and I recently took a design field trip to lovely Minneapolis, where our friend Chris Clark had work in the exhibition Graphic Design: Now in Production, which was also curated by Ellen Lupton, the director of our grad program. The show was a great success and we toured a number of excellent studios in Minneapolis and St. Paul, including Process Type, Werner Design Werks, and the Walker Design Studio. Shout outs to my pals Renda Morton and Eric Gunther, both unexpected run-ins I was quite happy about. Anyways, photos from that trip on flickr/facebook/tumblr, etc etc, forthcoming. Now back to it!
The newest issue of Ink magazine features a two-page spread on my Bunny & Skeleton Conversation series! Located out of Boston for this issue, it is chock full of awesome designer profiles and beautiful typography! Such an honor to be in it. Check out their site for more details or to order a copy! http://www.inkthestudio.com/
Site updates! I added four new categories to the Design section, with recent work in lettering, identity, and on-site building! More in the identity section coming soon. I added a category for my graduate thesis project, which will be exploring concepts of portable and temporary dwellings, community spaces, technology and sustainability through the filter of the igloo. Keep an eye on that section as the year progresses. Also, a few new posters and book cover images in the posters and books section (under print design). Three more books are heading to press next week, so look for additional images this fall. Also, reminder about my summer print sale! Only a couple weeks left, get them cheap while you can!
SUMMER SALE! I just listed a number of new Bunny & Skeleton prints in my Etsy shop and they are all discounted for the month of July! Please have a look and give some prints a new home. Thank you!
