The natural world is one of the most popular, and seemingly never-ending, sources of inspiration for textile designers. Pattern designer Skye McNeill will share examples of historical and contemporary nature motifs, discussing form, style and methods for translating drawings into printable motifs. Skye will guide the group through techniques for carving rubber blocks, motif layout and print process. Weather permitting, the group will take a short neighborhood walk for observational inspiration. In the afternoon students will print their blocks onto textiles and work on additional motifs if desired. Students will leave the class with a piece of yardage or a tea towel they have printed. This is an all levels class. See the Wildcraft class page for sign up.
