Apples and Abundance

The list of things I love about autumn is long (maybe yours is too?), and I may dive deeper into them in future entries (hellooo Halloween!), but today is about the harvest. As the porch-step pumpkin numbers begin to rise, so too does my elation of the season. Here in the Northwest we don’t have quite the bravura of fall foliage as I experienced while in school on the east coast, but we do have apples. An abundance of apples.

The First Quilt of a New Year

Three years ago I quite suddenly lost the last in-house job I had. In those initial weeks of figuring out what was next, I turned to one of the activities that always brought me feelings of calm and accomplishment when stressed — sewing.
